In the dictionary, “digital footprint” is now defined as “a unique set of digital activities, actions, and communications that leave a data trace on the internet and can identify a brand.”
These days, it seems as though everyone owns a smartphone, spends hours a day on the internet and scrolling through social media. In fact, the number of smartphone users worldwide today surpasses 3 billion and is forecast to further grow by several hundred million in the next few years.
In our internet-driven world, it’s more critical than ever to have a robust online presence. Establishing your brand online used to be as easy as building an appealing and SEO-friendly website, but in today’s technological world, you need to have a more significant online presence to stay visible.

And remember: The best content can be broken up, edited, and repurposed for a variety of uses and audiences. Make your content go the extra mile for you! I promise, it’s worth it.

You should consider SEO as a main pillar in terms of improving your digital footprint. Search Experience Optimization at its most basic means providing your users with the best possible experience when engaging with your brand/content online. To improve your digital footprint, you want to optimize all channels and touch-points where your customers might engage with you. Ensuring you are serving the best possible user experience and information that ultimately solves their problems and answers their question.

First, ask yourself a couple of questions: Is my website up to date with current info and services we provide? Is it easy to navigate? Does it provide value? Would I do business with us?
If your website is outdated, confusing, lacks a clear brand style, has poor marketing messages, or simply doesn’t communicate the quality or value your business offers, it’s time for a revamp! So, how is your site looking?
Now we get to the point where I want to bring up video again! The most effective way for a company to improve their digital footprint and have an impact on their audience is through video. When you publish informative videos on your website, you will experience an increase in website traffic!
In early 2017, Wyzowl found that 63% of businesses were using video as a marketing tool. By the start of 2018, that had risen to 81%. Now, as we arrive in 2019, the number has increased again to 87%.
Consumers are increasingly looking for video content when seeking information on brands. The same goes for potential investors looking for the next company to invest in.

This way, you’ll be in control of creating content that people want to read and is readily available to your target audience when searched. And remember: Tagging and linking content also increases page rank.
4 – Social media
So, you’ve now expanded your reach utilizing valuable content on your company website, have a plethora of videos uploaded, and you’ve created a blog. You’re in great shape. You can now share that content as posts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube…you get the idea.
Once you’ve decided which social platforms to focus on, you can begin crafting engaging, educational, and promotional content to be shared with your audience. But it doesn’t end there – Now you can begin responding to your follower’s comments and messages to show that your company has real people behind the name. 5 – Native ads
Native advertising is the use of paid ads that match the look, feel and function of the media format in which they appear.
Native ads are often found in social media feeds, or as recommended content on a web page. Unlike display ads or banner ads, native ads don’t really look like ads. They look like part of the editorial flow of the page. The key to native advertising is that it is non-disruptive – it exposes the reader to advertising content without sticking out like a sore thumb.
